Important Notes Before You Start:
- This procedure requires one working ignition key
- The following vehicles must be programmed by an automotive locksmith or dealership:
- 2004-2007 Saturn Vue
- 2005-2006 Chevrolet Equinox
- 2003-2006 Chevrolet SSR
- 2006 Pontiac Torrent
- Ensure that all remotes expected to work for the vehicle are present. Any remotes that are not present during programming procedure will stop functioning until they are reprogrammed
Programming Procedure
- Press 26 times on each button on the remote (26x lock, 26x unlock, 26x panic alarm)
- Close all the doors and make sure the key is out of the ignition
- Insert the working key into the ignition
- Press and hold the door "unlock" button on the master window switch. Do not release until step 10
- Perform steps 6 through 9 quickly
- Turn the ignition switch to the ON position (as far as you can go without starting the engine)
- Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position (where you can pull your key out of the ignition)
- Turn the ignition switch to the ON position (same as step 6 )
- Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position (same as step 7)
- Release the "unlock" button on the master window switch. This will lock and unlock the doors automatically. This cycle means that the vehicle has entered the programming mode
- Hold "lock" and "unlock" button on the remote simultaneously until the door lock and unlock (cycle) again. This step could take up to 30 seconds
- Repeat step 11 for all remotes that need to be programmed (including any existing working transmitter)
- Turn ignition to On position to exit the programming mode
- Turn ignition to Off position
- Remove the key from ignition and test all remotes to make sure they are all properly programmed
Troubleshooting
- Door lock cycle (lock unlock) before releasing the "unlock" button on the master window switch: This means that the vehicle has not entered the programming mode and you need to restart the procedure from step 1
- Step 1 was repeated multiple times but the door lock still cycle (lock unlock) before releasing the "unlock" button on the master window switch: This means that there is a problem with the keyless entry system and the remote must be programmed by an automotive locksmith or dealership
- Door lock does not cycle (lock unlock) before or after releasing the "unlock" button on the master window switch: This means that you are turning the key (steps 6 to 9) too quick or too slow, or there is a problem with the keyless entry system or the vehicle is not equipped with a keyless entry system
